The small things that make us happy

from TheOrdinaryBeauty, darling little mother of pearl buttons on a gorgeous card

from BAYTREEGIFTS, Sheffield scissors with a long and elegant shape

from the same, a beautiful oriental bottle with a hand painted
heron design and enameled body

moving to a completely different part of the world, yet to be found in the same shop, this Norwegian silver and enamel brooch makes winter dreamworthy

from curiousknopf, an art deco German coffee set from the 1920s,
not perfect but oh so charming to me!

from starfreckles, a 1920's aeroplane pin that I fell in love with at the first glance

from HeyVivDiscovered, a mustard celluloid manicure kit with
a scene of Balaton Lake in Hungary, a 1930's souvenir

from bubblepipe,
these 1920s lantern shaped Christmas light bulbs sing to my heart

from scottishart, more winter gorgeousness with an art deco
original lacquer chocolate box from the 1920's

from AnotherWomansTreasur, beautiful illustration on this vintage piano sheet

from leesasimpson, stunning enamel and silver earrings

from JOEBERN, a beautifully shaped art deco French compact
that still has the powder and rouge inside!

This time my fancies carried me out and around the world of vintage fashion and I found myself gravitating, as always, towards the unassuming little objects that seem to give a lift to my heart. So here I am, sharing this week's Etsy finds, and hoping to spread a little happiness.

Not all repurpossing is bad!

While I'd normally cringe at the thought of cutting up a vintage item (even the thought of altering something for a better fit sends a shiver of guilt down my back :)), it's only fair to admit certain things are sadly beyond salvation. And those are the items that should indeed be cut up and reused to create yet again a thing of beauty.
Speaking of which I have come across this lovely shop on Etsy called fadedsplendour selling among other things gorgeous little hats and fascinators crafted from vintage materials. Very affordable and very cute! Have a peek! Here are some of my favorites.

Mutton dressed lamb

For a little while now I've been feeling that the numbers in my age are...well, surreal. And overwhelming. I'd better get used to it, I know. But sadly, the older I get, the vainer I become.
The disbelief of others bears little consolation. In fact, their surprised exclamations and suspicious looks make me feel a little delinquent, an impostor inhabiting my own flesh and bones.

Surely things ought to be a lot different. Some sort of balance and wisdom should have been reached by now. But adulthood is just not happening to me. Then getting old shouldn't happen either... That's only fair, isn't it?

So for my birthday I wore my "little girl" dress, not so much in a deliberate attempt to look half my age, but because it shows who I truly am, a child yet to find her way in an adults' world.

40s Novelty fun

As promised I am carrying on with a novelty print post dedicated to the 1940's and I hope you will enjoy the selection I put together.

I am including bellow the little disclaimer from the previous post, hope everybody is ok with that.

Some of these images I've saved a while ago and can't remember where from, I do sincerely apologize to the original sources , will try to be more accurate for the future. Others, I decided to link their source for those of you who might be interested to purchase those items still available. Although I'd like to take this opportunity to mention again that this blog has a non commercial purpose and I am in no way linked to those sellers. But I thought that perhaps is the best way to credit the original source of these images, in those cases where is still known to me.

There you go, have fun!

Brown rayon dress from exquisitebones on Etsy. Could you make justice to this dress?...

Detail from a beautiful dress available from ebay seller retromagnetic. I would have snatched this is the colors where right for me!

Beach outfit from etsy seller SassySisterVintage, this is both beautiful and affordable, not something to be found easily (but why does it have to be peach?!!)...

Love letters dress from adelinesattic on Etsy, just look at all that detail!

I am still swooning over this, that cloud like print and cotton candy color are ticking all the right boxes! From funkomavintage on Etsy.
I am sure this is from an Etsy seller too, but can't find it anymore. perhaps it sold, what a beautiful, beautiful piece!

As for the rest, I really can't find the sources anymore, but I am sure you will admire them anyway for the lovely things they are.

Perfect little dress that makes me sight for I could never wear those colors...

How cute are those pianos?

I love love love this blouse, what do you think?

Makes you want go to the beach right now, doesn't it?

Happy go lucky Hawaiian print.
There are a lot of tropical print and Tikki collectors out there, and this subject deserve a post of its own, something I might do at a later date.

Green envy

This is yet another older mood board. In spite of the mismatched eras, I am still enjoying this one (and growing obsessed with that doggy tray), perhaps because of the green and yellow/gold combo, there's such a playful energy about it.
